Registered massage therapy targets the body's soft tissue (muscle, tendon, fascia and ligaments) to reduce pain, improve posture, range of motion, circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. It is also helpful with treating a variety of complaints such as chronic or acute injuries, headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, chronic fatigue, neuromuscular diseases, and can help to offer a feeling of overall well-being. An RMT massage encompasses a variety of techniques, for example: Swedish, myofascial, positional release, joint mobilizations, lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy, reflexive techniques and trigger point work.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage

In a localized manual lymphatic drainage treatment, specific techniques are applied in a light, rhythmic pressure to encourage fluid to enter the initial lymph vessels just beneath the skin. In a localized manual lymphatic drainage treatment, specific techniques are applied in a light, rhythmic pressure to encourage fluid to enter the initial lymph vessels just beneath the skin. These techniques also help stimulate nerves that activate the smooth muscle in the deeper lymphatic collector vessels, encouraging them to contract and move fluid toward regional lymph nodes in their watershed boundaries. Additionally, these techniques promote drainage of the nodes and eventually lymphatic fluid is cleaned and brought back to the circulatory system to be further processed by the liver and kidneys. This process helps the body move and clean excess fluid from the tissue, reduce tissue congestion, and ease inflammation and soreness in areas affected by injury or surgery.
MLD can be helpful with many issues, ie: migraines, pre- and post-natal care, menstrual pain, gastrointestinal concerns, arthritis, fibromyalgia, skin conditions, lipedema, healing during and after cancer treatments, cosmetic procedures (e.g., liposuction and gender affirming care), orthopedic surgeries, acute injuries, wound care, helping reduce swelling, scar tissue, and restricted movement.
While safe and effective for many, MLD may not be suitable for individuals with active infections, deep vein thrombosis, severe arterial disease, or certain heart conditions.

Complete Decongestive Therapy

Complete Decongestiive Therapy (CDT) is a treatment that combines 4 key components: 1) Manual lymph drainage massage to move lymph fluid away from congested areas. 2) Compression: short-stretch bandages  and/or custom fit garments are applied to affected areas to prevent fluid from returning to congested areas. 3) Gentle exercises: performed daily as self care, using the body's muscles as pump ...  CDT is delivered in two phases: 1) Reduction phase: focuses on short-term but more frequent in-person treatments of MLD and compression bandaging along with (at home) self care exercises and skin care to quickly decrease swelling. 2) Maintenance phase: long term but less frequent in-person MLD treatments manage the results achieved in phase 1 with custom fit compression garments and simple, ongoing self-care techniques.
CDT supports people recovering from surgery, cancer treatment, orthopedic procedures, and gender-affirming care, as well as those managing chronic conditions like lymphedemas, lipedema, arthritis, or venous insufficiency.
While safe and effective for many, CDT may not be suitable for individuals with active infections, deep vein thrombosis, severe arterial disease, or certain heart conditions.

TMJ Oral Myofunctional Massage

TMJ massage is a technique used to ease pain and discomfort in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which is responsible for the movement of the jaw. When the muscles and ligaments surrounding the joint become tense or inflamed, it can cause symptoms such as jaw pain, headaches, earaches, and difficulty opening and closing the mouth. TMJ massage helps to release tension in these muscles, improve circulation, and reduce pain.
A classic TMJ treatment includes massage work to release the muscles of the neck, throat, face and outside of the jaw, as well as work to release musculature inside of the mouth.

Pregnancy Massage

This treatment is similar to a regular RMT massage, but accommodates for the changes that a woman's body undergoes as her pregnancy progresses. As the abdomen expands, the massage is performed in side-lying with pillows under the head and between the knees for added comfort.

N.I.S.A (Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment)

This deep, myofascial treatment stretches and softens the body’s fascia, the thin sheet of connective tissue that resides underneath the skin, surrounding the muscles, bones and organs. NISA is ideal for people with poor postural alignment and limited range of motion.

Shiatsu Massage Treatment

Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese style of bodywork which is based on a similar meridian system as Chinese medicine's Tui Na, and is also very similar to Thai massage. During this deep and relaxing treatment, the client remains fully clothed; wearing comfortable, stretchy clothing one might wear to the gym or a yoga class. During this deep and relaxing treatment, the client remains fully clothed; wearing comfortable, stretchy clothing one might wear to the gym or a yoga class. Often the treatment is offered lying flat on a mat, however at most RMT clinics, such as Tensegrity Manual Therapy the therapist adjusts the treatment to a massage table. This treatment is a blend of acupressure points applied by the therapist's thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, and sometimes knees and feet along the meridian lines of the body. Assisted stretches and joint mobilizations are also applied where necessary to keep the flow of energy along the meridian lines balanced and open.

Hot Stone Massage Treatment

This hydrotherapy treatment is a deeply relaxing combination of traditional basalt stone therapy and Swedish massage. Smooth stones are warmed in a hot water bath (about the temperature of a hot tub) and used in the therapist’s hands to massage the body. Large placement stones can also be strategically placed along the body for comfort and to release tension and stress. Hot Stone Massage increa... Read More

Hot Stone Massage increases circulation, decreases stiffness and tension, and treats sore, aching muscles. Due to increased set up and clean up time, this treatment is more expensive than a regular massage treatment.

Reflexology Massage Treatment

This acupressure treatment is applied to the feet and hands, where specific points correspond with various organs and body systems. This treatment can help relieve stress, promote relaxation and detoxification, and ease discomforts such as plantar fasciitis, digestive issues, insomnia, and muscle soreness.

I have been working in massage therapy for over a decade, am registered and in good standing with the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario, and a member of the Registered Massage Therapists Association of Ontario. I have extensive experience in a variety of massage styles and techniques, including Swedish, myofascial and positional release, NISA, neuromuscular, muscle-energy, joint mobilizations, lymphatic drainage, sports massage, kinesiology taping, trigger point work, pregnancy massage, reflexology, Shiatsu, Thai, hot stone massage, and aromatherapy. Over the years, I’ve thrived in a variety of different massage settings, such as relaxation spas, heli-ski lodges and RMT clinics. I’ve also worked in specialty clinics such as Sutherland Chan’s Breast Clinic, Princess Margaret Hospital’s palliative care unit for cancer patients, and Lyndhurst Hospital’s Spinal Cord Rehabilitation Program. These experiences gave me further insight into how I can be of service to my clientele regarding pain management, the reduction of scar tissue, improving strength and mobility post-injury and -surgery, and the ongoing process of healing both the body and the spirit during times of crisis. My work as an RMT is also furthered by my training as a birth doula, courses pertaining to breastfeeding, and a 200-hour yoga teacher training course with Open Source Yoga. I strive to incorporate my widespread knowledge and expertise into each treatment in order to support and empower my clients as effectively as possible.
