Welcome to Tensegrity Manual Therapy!
Registered Massage Therapy Treatment
Registered massage therapy targets the body's soft tissue (muscle, tendon, fascia and ligaments) to reduce pain, improve posture, range of motion, circulation of blood and lymphatic fluid. It is also helpful with treating a variety of complaints such as chronic or acute injuries, headaches, anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive issues, chronic fatigue, neuromuscular diseases, and can help to offer a feeling of overall well-being. An RMT massage encompasses a variety of techniques, for example: Swedish, myofascial, positional release, joint mobilizations, lymphatic drainage, hydrotherapy, reflexive techniques and trigger point work.
Shiatsu Massage Treatment
Shiatsu is an ancient Japanese style of bodywork which is based on a similar meridian system as Chinese medicine's Tui Na, and is also very similar to Thai massage. During this deep and relaxing treatment, the client remains fully clothed; wearing comfortable, stretchy clothing one might wear to the gym or a yoga class. Often the treatment is offered lying flat on a mat, however at most RMT clinics, such as Tensegrity Manual Therapy the therapist adjusts the treatment to a massage table. This treatment is a blend of acupressure points applied by the therapist's thumbs, fingers, palms, elbows, and sometimes knees and feet along the meridian lines of the body. Assisted stretches and joint mobilizations are also applied where necessary to keep the flow of energy along the meridian lines balanced and open.
Aromatherapy Massage Treatment
In addition to any style of massage treatment, we can include the use of various essential oils made from natural plant and flower extracts. Essential oils can help to boost the immune system, clear the sinuses, aid with digestion, balance hormones, improve sleep, or simply help achieve deep relaxation during a massage. The oils can be added to a carrier oil and used topically during the treatment, or a steam bowl can be used during the treatment to infuse the oils aromatically into the air. Prior to treatment, your therapist will discuss the best method of essential oil application for your needs that day.
Reflexology Massage Treatment
This acupressure treatment is applied to the feet and hands, where specific points correspond with various organs and body systems. This treatment can help relieve stress, promote relaxation and detoxification, and ease discomforts such as plantar fasciitis, digestive issues, insomnia, and muscle soreness.
N.I.S.A (Neuromuscular Integration and Structural Alignment)
This deep, myofascial treatment stretches and softens the body’s fascia, the thin sheet of connective tissue that resides underneath the skin, surrounding the muscles, bones and organs. NISA is ideal for people with poor postural alignment and limited range of motion.
Lymphatic Drainage
In a localized lymphatic treatment, specific techniques apply light pressure to lymph nodes and vessels to release fluid buildup, thereby addressing tissue congestion, inflammation, and soreness in areas affected by recent injury or surgery.
In a systemic treatment, the aim is to improve the overall flow of lymph fluid, which is great for general detoxification and can help boost a sluggish immune system.
Pregnancy Massage
This treatment is similar to a regular RMT massage, but accommodates for the changes that a woman's body undergoes as her pregnancy progresses. As the abdomen expands, the massage is performed in side-lying with pillows under the head and between the knees for added comfort.
TMJ Oral Myofunctional Massage
TMJ massage is a technique used to ease pain and discomfort in the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which is responsible for the movement of the jaw. When the muscles and ligaments surrounding the joint become tense or inflamed, it can cause symptoms such as jaw pain, headaches, earaches, and difficulty opening and closing the mouth. TMJ massage helps to release tension in these muscles, improve circulation, and reduce pain.
A classic TMJ treatment includes massage work to release the muscles of the neck, throat, face and outside of the jaw, as well as work to release musculature inside of the mouth.
